Employer planning guide
Planning EAP support for your organisation.
Use this guide to clarify the workplace need, compare three service areas, and prepare the practical questions to discuss before requesting an EAP proposal.
Start with the workplace need
When might an EAP conversation be useful?
An employer may begin exploring support when stress, burnout, difficult conversations, or wellbeing concerns are becoming harder to address through ordinary workplace processes alone. An EAP does not replace responsible management, safety procedures, medical care, or emergency support.
You want an early view of wellbeing needs
Teams may be experiencing recurring stress, burnout concerns, disengagement, or uncertainty about when additional support may be appropriate.
Employees need a confidential route to support
Some employees may benefit from speaking with a psychological professional outside their immediate reporting line.
Teams need practical skills
Employees, managers, or HR teams may need clearer ways to discuss stress, relationships, communication, and resilience at work.
The 3R approach
Three ways to organise workplace support.
The right service mix depends on the organisation’s needs and the confirmed scope of a proposal. These three areas provide a practical starting point for discussion.
Recognize warning signs
Employee wellbeing screening and education can help organisations and employees understand emerging concerns. Screening provides information; it is not a diagnosis.

One-to-one counselling can provide employees with professional support for stress, burnout, and other personal or workplace concerns within the agreed service boundaries.
Explore Rebuild resourcesBuild resilience
Psychological talks and workshops can strengthen practical understanding of stress management, interpersonal relationships, communication, and resilience.

Employer planning checklist
What should be clear before an EAP launches?
A useful proposal should make access, delivery, privacy, communication, and programme-level review boundaries visible before launch.
Clarify access and delivery
- Who can use each service and how employees will access it.
- Which service components, languages, formats, locations, and timings are being considered.
- How the programme will be communicated without pressuring employees to participate.
Clarify privacy and review
- What confidentiality means, where safety-related limits apply, and what information—if any—is shared with the employer.
- How individual counselling content remains separate from performance management.
- How programme-level learning can be reviewed without identifying individuals.
Employer FAQs
Questions to ask before requesting a proposal.
Can the three EAP areas be combined?
A discussion can consider one or more of the publicly stated service areas—screening, one-to-one counselling, and talks or workshops. The final scope depends on organisational needs and MY Psychology’s confirmed service capacity.
What should the proposal say about confidentiality?
It should clearly state what employees can expect, any safety-related limits, what programme-level information an employer may receive, and how individual counselling content is kept separate from performance management.
Are EAP training programmes HRD Corp claimable?
MY Psychology’s current public EAP page states that it is an HRD Corp training provider and that eligible programmes may be claimable subject to conditions. Confirm the current eligibility and exact requirements for the proposed programme before relying on this.
